Last night I went to dinner with a good friend of mine. She told me that next summer she was planning on going on a cruise to Alaska with her mother. I commented that my mother just went last summer and said the glaciers were melting quickly, I then commented about how that led me to concerns about where that melted ice would go: my biggest concern being about floods where I live. My friend replied, “I’m so glad you’re one of those people who actually believes in global warming.” I said, “Of course, doesn’t everyone around here believe in it?” She said that no, her boyfriend – who is also a good friend of mine – does not believe in global warming which absolutely floored me. How could someone I know so well not believe in it? We decided that he must not believe because he must not understand, I’ll have to become even more diligent about spreading the word to others.
