I just went from your post to the Carmax.com site and noticed that you are both using basically the same graphic of the piggy bank - just FYI because it was disconcerting!

On buying a car: We checked out a number of models before settling on the Honda Fit. It is a manual/standard transmission. We get an average of 40 MPG. (Depending on air condition use, we've seen 37.5 up to 43.2)

I personally feel this is much better than the Prius. Everything that i've read about hybrid cars is that their batteries are very expensive, AND creating these batteries is harder on the environment than producing 3 regular cars.

My husband says the Honda Civic Natural Gas car is the best for the environment, but at the time we bought our last car (the Fit) we didn't have anywhere to fill it up at home.

I know you said you aren't in the market for a car now, but the hybrid cars aren't all that great, unless you are looking at gas mileage only.
