Update your Thermostat’s Program

by Carrie on November 3, 2009

You’ll probably be tinkering with your programmable thermostat some time this week to get it’s clock adjusted for daylight savings time. You do have a programmable thermostat by now right? If not it’s time to get one.

While you’re resetting the clock, take a couple minutes to adjust the program to better meet your needs.

In February I posted about how I was changing my program to turn the heater on at 7am instead of 6:30am when I have my alarm clock set for 7:30am. Now I have my alarm clock set for 7:45am and I’ll be moving the time my heat comes on up to 7:30am.

I’ve gotten to a point where I wake up within 5 minutes of when the heater comes on from the noise it makes and the temperature change. Moving the time half an hour later will mean more peaceful, uninterrupted sleep for me and another half an hour less spent running the heater every day. It’s a win/win situation.

Does your thermostat’s program need updating?
