Make It From Scratch Carnival

by Carrie on August 25, 2009

Welcome to the August 25, 2009 edition of the Make It From Scratch Carnival.

Editor’s Pick

Katie presents Mommy, Come Home: Work in the Kitchen posted at Kitchen Stewardship. Katie’s article this week is a digression from the how to make things from scratch into the why would you want to make things from scratch. If you’re wondering what the point of this carnival is then you should read Katie’s article.

Cleaning

Erin presents Make Your Own: Homemade Febreze posted at The Conscious Shopper. I think I’ve got about a liter of lavender oil available (one of my grandparent’s really liked it) so I’ll be trying this.

Cooking

Amanda Louden presents Summer Squash Pizza Crust posted at Daily Diner. I’m not a big squash fan but I think even I could tolerate this.

Annette Berlin presents 24 Ways To Fill An Omelet posted at Craft Stew. Tons of great ideas, I see many omelets in my future.

Christina Taylor presents Lobster Soup posted at Lobster Blog. This recipe certainly does look easy.

Joanna presents Berries, Berries, and More Berries posted at One Krusty Mama. I’ve been meaning to try Blueberry Buckle for months and months, this may be the motivation I’ve been looking for.

Liss presents Lemon and Ginger Baked Cheesecake posted at Frills in the Hills. Lemon, check. Ginger, check. Cream cheese, check. That’s 3 of my favorite flavors rolled into one in this recipe, what’s not to love?

Liz presents Zucchini Recipes ~ A Tasty Round-up posted at Hoosier Homemade. Some ideas for how to use up your zucchini.

Traci presents Chicken Salad Puffs posted at Goodies from Granny’s House. These sound perfect for a fancy brunch or luncheon.

VH presents Quinoa: Pretty good! posted at Funny about Money. As I commented on the post, I still feel like I’m eating bird food but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t tasty.

Yanic Arsenault presents How to Make Your Own Pectin posted at Adventures into Green. If you really want to get back to basic and do your canning completely from scratch then this is for you.

Crafting

Caren presents Feather Quill Pen posted at The Prudent Pantry. I was always fascinated by crafty projects like this as a kid, I wanted to be just like Felicity in my American Girl books.

RecycleCindy presents Baby Kimono and Booties posted at MyRecycledBags.com. Some cute quick projects that you can whip up for any baby you know.

Next Issue

Next week’s carnival will be held at SimplyForties. You can submit your post at the Make It from Scratch carnival website.

Heh heh heh! Quinoa does remind one of bird food. Wonder if it’ll grow, same as millet does if you spread it on the ground?

Thanks for including Funny’s recipe, and thanks for hosting the carnival. Once again, it’s full of wondrous and delightful ideas.
