Review: Gorgeously Green

Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life is a book directed at women with suggestions of how to live a greener life. I was unimpressed with the book, however, because most of it’s suggestions were to immediately toss out anything “ungreen” that you already own and run out and buy a replacement. I feel that it’s far greener to use up what you already have and replace with greener alternatives as those replacements are needed.

I did like the checklist at the beginning and end of the book which is a simple way to get thinking about some green alternatives. It includes items like:

  • Are you aware how many bags of trash you generate weekly?
  • Do you try to buy things with less packaging?
  • Do you know about native plants?
  • Do all members of your family try to conserve water?

If you are looking for ways to become greener, the book is worth looking through, however think of the products it suggests as future alternatives rather than immediate needs.
