Welcome to the June 23, 2009 edition of the Make It from Scratch carnival.
Editor’s Pick
Silvia presents Sugar Cookie Tarts Recipe posted at Po Moyemu–In My Opinion. Cookies, cream cheese, and blackberries: three of my favorite things rolled into one.
Cleaning
Miss Thrifty presents Make Your Own Floor Cleaner – I Do! posted at Miss Thrifty. I recently gave homemade oven cleaner a test drive, Miss Thrifty’s floor cleaner will likely be next.
Cooking
Colin Maccannell presents Cmac’s Tofu Bacon posted at CMac’s Test Kitchen. I’m a big bacon fan and not a big tofu fan but I’m pretty curious about how this tastes.
Howling Duck Ranch presents Yeast Wrangling 101 posted at Howling Duck Ranch. My mom used to always have a jar of sourdough starter in the kitchen, it was a really nice looking jar she kept it in too. I might have to see if I can borrow that jar to give this a try myself.
Katie presents Recipe Connection: Granola and Granola Bars posted at Kitchen Stewardship. Some tasty looking granola recipes.
Kristen presents Instant Mashed Beans posted at Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker. Kristen experiments with grinding beans as a substitute for refried beans.
Lisa Newton presents Tri-Color Easy Pasta Salad Recipe posted at Savings With Sadie. A very easy and flexible recipe; I just love being able to incorporate whatever I already have around when cooking.
Liss presents See my Heavenly Scrolls! posted at Frills in the Hills. Another recipe with lots of options for flexibility, though the originally cinnamon and apple variety does look quite tasty.
SimplyForties presents Beet, Carrot and Feta Salad posted at SimplyForties. Can this really convert a lifelong beet hater? I’ve never had a taste for beets myself but this salad does look appetizing.
Stephanie presents So Unappreciated posted at Make It From Scratch. Another look at the beet.
Tammy presents It’s Berry Pickin’ Time posted at Simply Beck’s Bounty. Another tempting looking blackberry dessert, the blackberries I got at the farmers market earlier this week were a bit on the sour side and this might be just the way to sweeten them up.
VH presents Wonderful Dinner posted at Funny about Money. This one certainly does look wonderful.
Crafting
Casey presents EcOnomical Mom: Homemade Playdough posted at EcOnomical Mom. It’s so easy to make your own, I remember doing this as a kid (and maybe as a teenager too because it’s fun).
Grandmother Wren presents Crocheted Sisal Rug posted at Grandmother’s Pattern Book. I tell people that I don’t crochet so they automatically assume that I don’t know how. The fact is that I know how pretty well but I never finish projects so I’ve stopped starting them. If I thought I could finish this one I might make it because it is gorgeous.
RecycleCindy presents Flower Power Plarn Tote Bag posted at MyRecycled Bags.com. This bag is really cute but as I said I never finish my crochet projects so I hope my mom reads this one and makes it for me
.
