My mom is a total hoarder and she doesn't even realize it. This past December, I moved back to the Bay Area and needed a place to stay for about a month until I could get an apartment. All of my stuff was in storage except for clothes, makeup and macbook. Ever since I left home, she turned my old room into the storage area. Since she has that closet completely packed, I asked her if I could have some room to hang up my work clothes in her bedroom. She has TWO walking closets. She gave me a hard time about it and I told her that we could look through them and maybe get rid of some stuff. You would think I asked her to get rid of everything. I barely got any closet space. However, that did push me to find an apartment sooner.

I've been hoarding empty toilet paper rolls for the past six months, because I keep thinking there must be a craft or art activity my little boy can use them for. And I bought 4 boxes of whole wheat couscous yesterday (I like it, but even 4 boxes is a little much to have around) because it was on sale at a store that's usually a little out of my way. Oh, and I have a SERIOUS problem with hoarding my favorite mascara. Whenever it's on sale, I buy 2, 3, or 4 tubes. I love that stuff so much, I like to have plenty of backup on hand!

I find it's easy to get used to little piles here & there, but every so often I have to do a big junk purge. I can't stand the mental clutter that stuff can create!

Oh yes! I walk a very fine line between smart stockpiling and crazy hoarder all the time! I even caught myself today before I bought four bottles of lotion... because I had coupons and it was a great sale... and then I remembered that I already had three bottles of lotion in my closet at home and only bought one. Sigh.

I am also a digital hoarder... especially with digital scrapbooking supplies. Thank goodness for giant external hard drives!

I guess admitting you may have a problem is the first step, right? I need to get back on track, too!
