I’m featured today in a guest post about organizing and updating your wardrobe over at getrichslowly.org (my personal favorite blog). Make sure you check it out. If that’s how you found your way here, welcome and please consider subscribing to my blog via RSS or email.
Less Is More is a blog about how to get more or do more with less money, time, or impact on the environment. Topics frequently covered are personal finance, cooking, cleaning, organizing, and all things green. Please take some time to read some of my recent posts if these topics are of interest to you.
Ladies, if you’re looking for specific guidelines on expanding your wardrobe, I’ve found The Pocket Stylist and The Lucky Shopping Manual to be great resources. I originally checked out both from the library but found them so useful I purchased copies to keep at home.
The Pocket Stylist shares my views on what the point of your wardrobe should be. This is just one excerpt that really resonates with me:
“I advocate owning fewer things of better quality. I believe in discernment, especially as we choose the well-cut pieces that are the style bedrock of any well-conceived wardrobe. Our object is a wardrobe that is fluid. A closet filled with pieces that relate to each other. No new piece joins the party unless you can create at least two additional new looks with it. Ideally, there should be a now-and-later quality built in to your choices with fabrics that bridge seasons and time zones.”
The Lucky Shopping Manual is a more visual book with pages and pages of ideas on how to select and mix and match a small but diversified collection of items. If you’re looking for advice on what pieces will maximize your wardrobe this is the book for you.
