The other day at work we completely ran out of toilet paper. The company has been trying to cut back here and there to save money because of the tight economy but not buying toilet paper ahead of time just isn’t the way to go. While pondering the lack of toilet paper, I thought of a few ways everyone in the office could cut back in other areas to save the company some money (and every single one of them would make us more green too):
- Use only 1 or 2 paper towels rather than many
- Make sure the faucet in the bathroom is turned off completely after you use it
- Turn out the lights when you leave a room
- Make sure all electronic items are turned off completely when leaving for the day
- Turn the heater down from 70 or 72 to 68
- Keep the doors to the climate controlled room shut unless you are walking through that door
- Don’t print emails unless absolutely necessary
- If you think you need to print an email consider printing on the back of another sheet
- Double and triple check your work before you use any materials
- Consider asking someone else to check your work before you use any materials
