Farmers Market 6/20

Produce from the farmers market

Produce from the farmers market

For the sake of comparison, I’ve paused my produce delivery service this week and set out to the farmers market in attempt to purchase approximately the same volume of produce. I got red leaf lettuce, carrots, a red bell pepper, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries for $13.15. Compared to $23 that’s a much better deal, and I got to pick exactly what items I got (although this will lead to less variety).

I’ll maintain my account with the produce delivery service for weeks that I don’t make it to the farmers market but I don’t think I’ll plan on ordering from them on a consistant basis.

I’m also fortunate that my local farmers market is open year round so I’ll be able to shop there in the fall and winter as well.

Lucky! We try to shop at the farmer’s market, too, but I think we would end up paying $20 or so for the same amount of produce.

I made the farmer’s market trip today too. I bought Silver Queen corn, tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, green beans and a melon. My cost was just over $12.00. Like you said, can’t beat the price and the opportunity to choose your own.
