Walgreens has Bic Soleil 4 packs of disposable razors on sale for $4.99 this week. You get a $1 register reward with that purchase and there is a $3 mq from a recent newspaper insert you can use on them. Total $0.99 after coupon and register reward.
I read a recent article that suggested that there is no way to win on going green with razors. Electric razors use electricity and thus create greenhouse gases and refillable razor blades are packed in so much plastic (usually each blade is packaged and then all the blades are packaged together) that they don’t use any less resources than disposables. And in reality you’re disposing of those refillable blades too so who’s to say they aren’t also disposables. It’s pretty obvious to me that the disposables come in less packaging when I look at the shelves of shaving options at the drugstore. At this point I’m just stocking up on the cheapest razor options (target price of $0.25 per cartridge be that in the form of a refillable or a disposable).
Longs/CVS is finally offering ECB deals in northern California but the only deal I was interested in this week is the iTunes giftcards ($50 giftcard with a $10 ECB) but $10 ECB seems a little overwhelming to start out with when I don’t have any experience with the system so I’m passing for now. iTunes giftcards at that sort of discount come around a few times a year at various stores so I don’t feel like I’m really missing out by passing on it at this time.
