Pause

by Carrie on June 10, 2010

Is there a pause button for life?

After thinking long and hard about this, I’ve decided to take some time off from blogging here at It’s Frugal Being Green. The blog isn’t going anywhere so you’ll still be able to come back any time to reference anything you’ve read. I just won’t be posting anything new for a while.

I’ve got radiation (for the grapefruit size tumor in my chest) starting in less than two weeks and I hear it makes you super tired. As soon as I’m recovered from radiation it’ll be time to head back to work full time and I’m already feeling overwhelmed by that. I’ve been on disability leave because the cancer has slowed me down so much that by the time I get to my appointments, eat, clean myself and the house, and exercise a bit the whole day is shot and soon here I have to add 8 hours in the office back into that mix again. And it’s not just physical fatigue, I’m distinctly suffering from “frugal fatigue” as well.

I’m planning to continue to remain active on Twitter and on my other blog, Carrie Actually, where I’ll be posting updates on my cancer treatment in addition to it’s regular geeky content.

Done with Chemo

by Carrie on May 18, 2010

I’ve just completed my last session of chemotherapy! Still have a couple months of radiation therapy scheduled before I’m ready to head back to work and boy am I anxious to get back to a normal life.

I invite you to read more about my cancer experience over at my personal blog Carrie Actually.

I’m a bit of a late adopter when it comes to anything Facebook related. My friends still tease me about being the last person ever to join despite the fact that I joined a couple years ago and other friends have joined since.

But I finally got a Facebook page set up for It’s Frugal Being Green and I invite you to become a fan.

findusonfacebook

Becoming a fan of It’s Frugal Being Green on Facebook will add a link, the first few sentences, and a picture from each new post to your Facebook feed as they are posted. It’s a great way to keep up with It’s Frugal Being Green if you’re on Facebook all the time.

If you’re on Twitter don’t forget that you can follow me there too! Send me a message so that I know you’re a reader and can follow you back (you know how it gets so hard to tell spam and real people apart sometimes).

Guest Posting Style Guide

by Carrie on April 27, 2009

I welcome guest posting here at It’s Frugal Being Green. Here are a few suggestions on what to write about and how to write it. If you are interested in submitting a guest post, please email me with a description of what you would be interested in writing or ideally a rough draft of your article. The more specific you can be in your proposal and the more you follow these guidelines, the more likely I’ll be interested and able to use your post.

Topics

Your guest post should fit at least one, if not more, of my topics: budgeting, cleaning, cooking, couponing, crafting, decorating, gardening, green, investing, meal planning, organizing, recycling, shopping, or traveling. Please make sure your post is applicable to everyone, not just those with babies/children.

Images

If you have an image you would like included with your guest post, please make sure you have the appropriate rights to use it (don’t just pull something off a google search). Email me the image and I will host it here.

Exclusivity

Any guest posts written for It’s Frugal Being Green should not be posted or submitted elsewhere, including your own blog. I do recommend that you do a post on your own blog that links back to your guest post on It’s Frugal Being Green and provides follow up information.

Byline

Bylines should be a sentence or two about who you are and what you do. You may include a link to your own blog in your byline. Bylines will be featured at the top of your guest post.

In post links need to be relevant. You can link to your own blog up to 3 times within your guest post as long as those links are highly relevant to the topic you are covering in your guest post.

Editing

I may edit your post as necessary to help it fit the It’s Frugal Being Green style.
