Oven Barbequed Chicken

For those of us who don’t have outdoor barbeques, here’s a way to simulate barbequed food in the oven.

Arrange chicken in a baking pan (you might want to line it with foil as scrubbing of any baked on barbeque sauce can be a lot of work). Bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 minutes.

Prepare sauce. You can either make your own barbeque sauce or use a store bought sauce.

After the chicken has baked for 25 minutes, brush it with the sauce, turn it over, brush the other side with the sauce, and then bake for another 20 to 30 minutes until the chicken is cut though. I don’t like my chicken overcooked so at 20 minutes I cut open a piece and if it’s white all the way through I take it out of the oven and if it’s still pink I leave it in for another 10 minutes and then test again.

Sounds like a good alternative when we are out of propane. That stuff isn’t too cheap.

That looks good! I don’t like messing with the grill, so this is a nice alternative when my hub isn’t available.

I’ve made BBQ Chicken this way before… it works so nicely. Great for summer time flavor in the middle of winter (unless you’re crazy enough to shovel a path to the grill like my hubby).

This sounds like a fabulous idea for days when the weather is nasty, or hubbie is gone and I don’t want to mess with the grill. :)

This looks like something my son would love. He loves BBQ everything! Since our BBQ grill was tossed around in the wind twice this winter and needs some repairs, we can still eat delicious BBQ chicken using our oven.

Thanks for sharing.

Try brushing the chicken with liquid smoke first before putting into the oven, then still brush over with bbq sauce half way through cooking. This gives it that extra little bit of outdoor bbq flavour.
